Back Again

Sorry for the absence. My sister visited for a week and things were just busy. Like getting home exhausted every night busy. I think I need a vacation from her vacation here.

Anyways, on to today's workout.

Here's what was on the menu. I was actually a bit excited to do this.

Mondays are fun! #wod #crossfit

Mind you, that does only say 1 round. Not 7, that's just the way some people write. Going into it, I figured about 15 minutes to finish this. My goal was to get through every thing unbroken, but I had a feeling that 25 bag slams was just not gonna happen after the KBS. I was right. I went unbroken until 15 bag slams, then I had to take a break get some blood back in my arms. Managed the pushups in sets of 5, hand release of course.

Then... BURPEES!!!

Holy cow. Those hurt. It's only 15 right? Wrong! It felt like 100. I just kept thinking "don't stop" the whole time. They were very slow at the end.

Now to finish with TGU. Those are tough because you want to go quickly, but at the same time you can't because you could hurt yourself easily. I don't know about you, but a face full of kettlebell in the morning is not something I want.

Stayed strong and guess what? Blew my hypothetical time out of the water!

My time: 9:47!

I was pretty proud of this. At the end, I could see the clock and I was concentrating on not stopping. I was stoked at that time. Especially after the mini-wod warm up that we did. That was tough!

Back at it again tomorrow. We'll see how many people show up. It was packed this morning. I counted 22 as we went out for the warmup jog. Never though I'd see that in the morning. It's awesome!

Here's some shots of my past couple weeks.

Sister time!!!
Enjoying the company of my sister.

Stuck in a traffic jam in Autopia.
Of course we hit up Disneyland.

Another #crossfit right of passage: scored my first hand rips this morning.

Raise 'em up!

What a way to start the week off... two things that don't really tickle my fancy: overhead squats and WODs where you're constantly in the same position.

This is what was waiting for us at the box today.

Workin hard on a Monday! #wod

So basically, you're arms are going to be in the overhead position for 20 minutes straight. Yay!!!  not really. Who gets really excited about that? You must be a freak. (No harm intended).

I went light. As in the 15kg bar. Really. I'm a little embarrassed about that, but I needed to be able to use my arms the rest of the day. Hey, at least I stuck with the 25lb plate for the lunges!

I'm thankful for staying at that weight. 15 reps is a lot for OHS and then you don't even get to rest afterwards because your arms are again over your head trying to keep the plate from bouncing off your noggin.

Thank goodness my Rogue Wrist Wraps came in this weekend. I put those babies to good use today.

I had to really focus towards the end of the AMRAP. As I got tired, I started to go more on the balls of my feet instead pushing through my heels. I'll take less numbers for better form. No sense getting lazy in here.

In the end: 8 rounds

And that was moving until the very last second too.

On a side note... how awesome was Chris Spealler's performance this weekend at Regionals? Freaking amazing!!!! I'm so excited that he'll again be at the Games. I'm gonna get to see him in action. Can't wait! If you haven't yet, check out the Games site and watch the videos. There are so many inspirational athletes.

And here's some shots from my weekend.

My baby bear is home. This little ball of love is Hoku. #corgi
Picked this little cutie up on Friday. She's such a darling.

Good morning errybodyz!!
It's worth it to wake up early for this face.

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo with some #paleo spaghetti.

Sunday kitchen time. Cooking for this week. Here's a peek: sausage egg muffins and sautéed asparagus with broccoli. #paleo fun!
Then prepped food for the week.

Get it!

That's what today's WOD was called... Get It.

This #wod didn't look so bad on the board... once I got stared it was hell.

Doesn't look that bad, right? That's what I thought too. WRONG! After starting, it was like hell. You don't really notice how quad intensive flutter kicks and burpees are until you have 75 walking lunges to do afterwards. My legs were all sorts of shaky by the time I made it on to the lunges.

My lunges, instead of being something like lunge. step. lunge. step. were more of lunge. stand. step. lunge. stand. step.

On the bright side, the 25 pullups were I piece of cake. Probably because nothing else involved arms except the wall balls during warmup. I strung 15 kipping pullups together (yeah, still with the blue band). I was pretty proud of that. Brings me a step closer to eventually getting off the band. Which I did try, by the way, after the WOD was over. Nope... only got about half way up. So much for thinking I was some kind of cool.

You know you're crazy when...

...the trainer opening the box is late and you decide that you are going to make up your own workout to do on the sidewalk. Complete with 100m lunges, uphill.

Who does that to themselves? Well, a bunch of us did this morning. We decided that, "hey, we're already here... might as well do something." So we took a lap around the block and commenced lunges. Good thing that our trainer made it after only one length of lunges. I was already dying and my legs shook to whole jog back down the street.

At least we were already warmed up and ready to go for today's WOD!

07Mar WOD
**We subbed 250m row for the run because they started powerwashing the sidewalk outside. I don't know about you, but I don't want any of that sidewalk nastiness being sprayed on me. I hope the homeless guy got a good shower in though.**

AMRAP: 7 rnds + 10 step ups + 10 rings dips + 50m row

After all those lunges, I opted for the 15# kb for the step ups. Glad that I did because the last couple rounds were tough. I was desperately trying to get 8 full rounds done, but as much as I hurried and tried to keep the pace up I couldn't make it. I'm happy with my effort though.

And today was a normal class size again. I don't know what happened yesterday, but A LOT of people decided Tuesday was the day to WOD in the morning or something. There were almost 20 of us! On any normal day the average is maybe about 7. Makes for a pretty good dynamic. We all expect to see each other and get along well. It helps motivate me to get out of bed at 5 am everyday.
